Knitting Pattern For Braided Cable Ear warmer

MATERIALS
U.S. Size 13 single point knitting needles
1 cable needle
1 skein chunky wool or wool blend yarn

ABBREVIATIONS
K – Knit
P – Purl
KFB – Knit front and back into the same stitch (method for increase). Learn how here!
K2TOG – Knit two together (method for decrease)
SL 1 – Slip one stitch from the left needle to onto the right needle without knitting it

Cable Pattern: C8B: slip next 4 stitch onto cable needle and leave at back of work, K4, then K4 from cable needle C8F: slip next 4 stitch onto cable needle and leave at front of work, K4, then K4 from cable needle.

PATTERN
Cast on 10 stitches.
ROW 1: KNIT
ROW 2: PURL
ROW 3-6: Repeat these two rows twice more, ending with a purl row
ROW 7: KFB 1, K9, KFB 1
ROW 8: PURL
ROW 9: KFB 1, K10, KFB 1
ROW 10: PURL
ROW 11: KFB 1, K11, KFB 1
ROW 12: PURL
You should now have 16 stitches total

Begin Cable pattern:

Row 13: sl 1, k1, C8B, k6
Row 14: sl 1, k1, p12, k2
Row 15: sl 1, k15
Row 16: sl 1, k1, p12, k2
Row 17: sl 1, k15
Row 18: sl 1, k1, p12, k2
Row 19: sl 1, k5, C8F, k2
Row 20: sl 1, k1, p12, k2
Row 21: sl 1, k15
Row 22: sl 1, k1, p12, k2
Row 23: sl 1, k15
Row 24: sl 1, k1, p12, k2

ROW 25-48: Repeat these 12 rows twice more, giving you a total completion of THREE cable patterns.

ROW 49: K2TOG, K 14, K2TOG
ROW 50: PURL
ROW 51: K2TOG, K 12, K2TOG
ROW 52: PURL
ROW 53: K2TOG, K10, K2TOG
ROW 54: PURL
ROW 55: KNIT
ROW 56: PURL
ROW 57: KNIT
ROW 58: PURL
ROW 59: KNIT
ROW 60: Cast off purl wise

Pull last stitch through leaving about 9 inches of yarn off the end. Bring cast on and cast off edges together to form a circle. Using the 9 inch tail of  yarn, join the ends together sewing up then down the edges three or four times to form a nice strong seam (this counts as weaving in the ends).
